From The Pit 2020 is delighted to host Robert M. Knight and Maryanne Bilham-Knight for a seminar exploring the role of music photography for today’s performing artists.

Come along and hear the stories behind some of their most enduring images as they tease out the lessons for those currently working in the industry here in New Zealand. You’ll also hear how they are working with emerging musicians to promote the next generation of legends and pass on their decades of knowledge and experience.

There will be plenty of food for thought whether you are a musician, a photographer, or just someone who loves to hear a good story or two from the front line of rock ‘n’roll.

Biographies:

Freshly relocated from Las Vegas, Auckland based photographers Knight and Bilham have decades of experience working with world famous musicians. They have created countless enduring images which capture the essence of their subjects. The list of artists they have worked with is a who’s who of rock stars over the last 50 years.

Knight is one of the world’s greatest rock photographers having shot music legends since the late 60s, working with everyone from Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, BB King, Joe Perry and Buddy Guy to modern guitarist’s like John Mayer, Slash, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Joe Bonamassa and Steve Vai.

New Zealand born Bilham is an award-winning photographer best known for subjects including rock ‘n’ roll musicians, celebrities, high-end advertising campaigns, fashion and personal fine art pieces. She has over 35 years of international experience working with entertainment companies and musicians including Carlos Santana, Def Leppard, John Lee Hooker, John 5, Heart, Cyndi Lauper, The Go Go’s, Sheryl Crow, Garbage and Sick Puppies.
She also has a heart for emerging musicians and recently did an impromptu photo shoot with teenage thrash metal band Alien Weaponry on Waipu beach.
